The new Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) now offers solar financing with no money down. With the SCEIP you don’t even need equity in your home or perfect credit!
Choosing solar is a big financial decision and something many people think they can’t afford. When uncertainty is on the rise in the economy and jobs and home values start to drop, it can seem like no one is there to lend a hand, much less consider the environment in these tight financial times.
Well, now, with the new Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP), local homeowners and commercial property owners who are current on their taxes and mortgage payments can finance a solar installation with a voluntary assessment to their annual property taxes instead of taking out a loan. What this means is there is one simple application with the county to help you invest what you would normally spend on a monthly electric bill toward a solar solution that adds value to your property. Plus, since it’s handled by the county, when you sell your house the payment stays with the home and doesn’t affect your equity.
Sonoma County is one of the first counties in California that has made this financing program available to homeowners who might not have the equity or up-front cash to afford a solar home improvement. The program started with a pool of $100M to fund renewable energy and efficiency programs in Sonoma County. In the first week alone they already received 181 first-come first-served applications.
There really has never been a better time to go solar. With State of California rebates, Federal tax credits, and Sonoma County now offering a unique financing program, there is simply too much incentive to ignore. And Real Goods Solar’s 30 years of experience in helping North Bay residents take charge of their energy future makes navigating this process easy and enjoyable.
